The company, for the 2.56-acre proposed site on 6 New Creek Road, south of the Metro-North Railroad, paid $1.46 million in June 2008. The neighbours at 6 New Creek Road were informed about CL&P plans.

The location of the new Green’s Farms substation is near to the high-voltage transmission lines and it would be possible for CL&P to enhance the property, after construction. CL&P substation on Post Road East would be replaced by a new substation.

The company’s spokesman revealed that the Westport’s Planning and Zoning Commission would review the project site plan. The Connecticut Siting Council application filing related to the project would be done in 2009. The formal local approvals for the project are not required, since the station is regulated by the Connecticut Siting Council. The construction of the substations would start in 2010, and the new power substation would commence work in Q1 2012.
