The 6,000MW Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station, which comprises of six 1,000MW pressurized water reactor units, will provide electricity for meeting local demand in Guangdong Province.

The construction of the nuclear power station began in 2008, and the project is expected to be commissioned in phases between 2013 and 2017.

CLP started its joint venture partnership with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company to develop China’s first commercial nuclear power station, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station in 1985.

CLP Holdings posted an 83% gain in first-half profit, beating estimates, because of increased returns from projects outside the city and a one-off tax benefit.
