The field is located in water depth of approximately 70m in Yinggehai Basin of Beibu Gulf.

CNOOC is currently producing from five of the seven wells. These five wells have a combined production capacity of 53 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The adjustment project involved construction of one wellhead platform. It will be ramped up to reach peak production capacity of approximately 54 million cubic feet per day this year, the company said.

CNNOC operates the Dongfang1-1 independent gas field with 100% stake.

The latest development comes after CNOOC made mid-sized discovery at Liuhua 20-2 in the eastern South China Sea. The Liuhua 20-2 structure is located in Northern Slope Belt of Baiyun Sag in the Pearl River Mouth Basin at depth of around 390m.
