The 200MW West Valley plant was owned by the West Valley Leasing Company, but has been leased to PacifiCorp since the plant began commercial operation in 2002.

The West Valley plant operates during peak demand periods, such as hot summer and cold winter days. By permit design, the plant is limited to operating only a certain number of hours per year.

John Long, president of Constellation Power Generation, a subsidiary of Constellation Energy, said: Constellation Energy’s purchase of the West Valley plant will help us competitively meet some of the growing peak energy demands in the western US energy markets.
