The transaction includes eight operating wind farms, totaling 161MW, in Austria and operating solar sites, generating 40MW of energy, in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

ContourGlobal closed the acquisition of 103MW worth of the projects with Renergie, an affiliate of Raiffeisen-Holding NO-Wien.

The company said it will close the acquisition of additional 98MW of projects from REE, an affiliate of Raiffeisen-Leasing, by the end of 2014.

The acquisition adds to ContourGlobal’s portfolio of about 1.4GW worth of renewable energy projects, located in Africa, Europe and South America.

ContourGlobal executive vice president and chief operating officer Karl Schnadt said : "We have acquired well maintained and operated wind farms and solar plants. With the integration of both portfolios we will have further opportunities to increase the growth and efficiency of our business."

ContourGlobal has about 4000MW in operations or under construction in 20 countries and four continents.

The company manages, owns and operates a portfolio of 40 power plants using a range of fuel types and technologies including renewable energy production.

In the wider Central and East European area, ContourGlobal presently owns and operates about 1220MW of power generation businesses in Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, and Poland.
