The program has been designed to develop hundreds free public and home charging stations for individuals and businesses throughout the Bay Area including San Jose.

Ford, Chevrolet and smart USA that have joined Coulomb in this program plan to introduce their respective EVs in New York in the coming months.

Coulomb Technologies plans to provide nearly 5,000 charging stations to the program participants in nine regions in the US that include Austin, Texas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Florida, Sacramento, California, the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area, Bellevue/Redmond, Washington, and Washington DC.

The EV charging stations provide information on the charging status by SMS text or email notification, location of unoccupied charging stations via smart phones and include authenticated access, authorized energizing, smart grid integration for utility load management with future V2G capabilities and a ChargePoint iPhone app.

Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies, said: “Coulomb’s first customer was the city of San Jose and we’re pleased to be back, both to welcome the EV transformation to Silicon Valley and also to bring jobs to install and maintain EV infrastructure.”
