Located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, the tower was constructed by Anhui Electric Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering.

The dual-based 277.5m crossing tower, along with a four-based 74m anchor tower is part of a 3km section of the power line spanning the Yangtze River, reported china.org.cn.

This ultra-high voltage power transmission line stretches for 656km and includes 1,421 steel towers.

The project, which is expected to complete at the end of 2013, applies the most advanced alternating power transmission technology.

Upon its completion, the project will transmit over 50 billion kW of power annually to the Chinese city of Shanghai.
