Installation is scheduled for November 2010. Composite Technology said that Quanta Services selected its ACCC conductor to enable City Power Johannesburg to increase capacity over 100% while reducing both line losses and thermal sag on existing structures.
Benton Wilcoxon, CEO of Composite Technology, said: “The combination of our patented higher capacity conductor technology with Quanta’s patented installation technique significantly improves the capacity and reliability of City Power Johannesburg’s system without interrupting service to their customers.”
This order follows last year’s order for 210km of ACCC conductor and another emergency replacement order in June 2010 for 23km. CTC Cable is a global supplier of composite core conductor, with about 9,000km of ACCC conductor commercially deployed at over 140 installations.
