CWEI is a subsidiary of the Beijing-based China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC), which owns the China Yangtze Three Gorges hydropower project located on the Yangtze River.

IGlobal Times cited Xinhua as quoting Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) chief executive officer Radhesh Pant that a 11-member team has completed the study to understand the technical and financial feasibility of the project.

"A joint team consisting of three representatives from the Nepali government and eight from CWEI completed feasibility study of the proposed West Seti hydro power project area," he told the news agency.

The CWEI technical team will assess the engineering, geology, hydrology, migrant planning, project hydraulics and other aspects of the project.

According to Pant, the results will determine the project development and CWEI will report the findings about the project’s planning soon.

The project will be jointly developed by CWEI and the Nepalese government with 75% and 25% stake in the project respectively.

West Seti is expected to supply about 150MW of electricity to the Indian western industrial corridor and Nepal.
