Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum have reconstructed their LPG loading and dispatching facilities at the Kor Mor LPG plant in Kurdistan, Iraq, following an accident in 2012.

The reconstruction program, which cost the joint operators $15m, involved incorporating the latest LPG loading safeguarding and control technology that provides safety and control over the LPG loading process.

With the reconstruction and upgrading of the loading facilities complete, the Kor Mor LPG plant can now produce up to 900 tonnes/day of LPG, which will be available for Kurdistan and surrounding regions.

Since October 2008, the companies had a total cumulative petroleum production of 88 million barrels of oil in the Kurdistan region under total investments of over $1bn, making it the largest investment and highest production in the region’s oil and gas sector.

The plant produces around 88,000 barrels oil equivalent per day (boepd) at peak rate, which includes 340 million cubic feet of gas and 15,000 barrels of condensate liquids.

Dana Gas board managing director and Crescent Petroleum CEO Majid Jafar said they are proud to be the largest investors and producers in the Kurdistan Region’s oil and gas sector, and this represents the confidence of the GCC investors in the policies of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

"The gas we produce has enabled billions of dollars of fuel cost savings for the government, and major economic and social benefits for the region as a whole. We look forward to further expansion of our investment and production in the region," Jafar added.

Dana Gas executive director and acting CEO Rashid Al-Jarwan said the restoration of the full LPG capacity is another important milestone in their operations, and they thank the KRG Ministry of Natural Resources for their cooperation, as well as their contractors, partners and staff.
