This funding has been made under Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) competition.

DECC noted that the funding will be utilized by the landlords in the installation of a range of renewable heating kit, such as air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, solar thermal installations and biomass boilers.

Commenting on the initiative, Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said the funding will enable the social landlords to install around 2,400 renewable heating technologies in the homes of social tenants, which will help hard pressed families save money on their energy bills.

"It’s great to see so many social landlords across Great Britain getting involved. The second strand of our renewable heat competition is still open to bids so I would encourage those who have not yet taken advantage of the funding available to get on board," added Barker.

Of all the landlords, Stroud District Council, Gloucestershire are planning to install around 400 air source heat pumps, and Devon and Cornwall Housing will install about 150 ground source heat pumps at homes.
