By replacing 210W metal halide lights in the Sheffield parking garage on its Lincoln Park campus in Chicago with 90W EvoLucia LEDs, which use less than half the energy of the previous lights, the University expects to save considerably in energy and maintenance costs.

The installation of EvoLucia LED lights which are claimed to use 60% less energy and are designed to be maintenance-free, requiring no bulb replacements for approximately six years, will allow DePaul to realize a quick return on their investment in the energy-efficient lighting.

Illinois Solar Products, a distributor for several manufacturers of energy efficient lighting products to a variety of customers, facilitated the sale of the EvoLucia lights to DePaul following a thorough study of the university’s energy usage.

Sunovia vice president of global sales Jim Perkins said that parking garages are an ideal application for energy-saving LED lighting, given that parking garage lights are on 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

“By choosing EvoLucia LED lights, DePaul will enjoy savings in both energy usage and maintenance while increasing the visibility and light quality in their campus garage,” Perkins said.
