Dimension Data will offer the eWaste Management Service, which also facilitates the physical or data destruction of electronic data storage equipment, as an option for maintenance contracts or as a service attached to hardware refresh projects.

The eWaste Management Service utilizes manual disassembly method to recycle equipment and parts with an average metal recovery rate of 98% and offers a removal service including handling equipment and consumables, packaging for transport, travel and labor delivered on-site.

Further, the program provides a packaging removal service to remove and recycle packaging from new equipment delivered on-site and uses physical means; de-gaussing or data wipe technology for the physical or data destruction of electronic data storage equipment.

The cost of the service, which will be made available to companies of all sizes and types, will be calculated on a per-kilo or unit-count basis.

Dimension Data global director of sustainability Merle Singer said that by offering a range of tailored logistics, e-recycling, packaging removal and data destruction services in a transparent service package, businesses can disposed of redundant hardware in a manner that is safe for the environment.
