Sempra Energy will sponsor the utility-scale PV solar project, to be located in Maricopa County.
The Mesquite Solar 1 project will use US-manufactured transformer-less and liquid cooled inverter technology, which will increase the project’s energy output and decrease operating costs and improve reliability.
Upon completion, the facility will produce about 350,000MWh of electricity in the first full year of production, or enough to power nearly 31,000 homes.
The power plant will avoid the emissions of over 200,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Pacific Gas & Electric Company has signed a power purchase agreement to buy the electricity generated by the power project.
