Located in San Bernardino County near Helendale, California, the Alamo Solar power plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of this year.

Power generated from the facility would be sold to an unidentified customer under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and an interconnection agreement.

Dominion Generation CEO David Christian said: "Solar power provides important fuel diversity in our fleet’s electric generation mix."

The acquisition of Alamo facility, which is expected to qualify for the federal Investment Tax Credit, will bring solar portfolio of Dominion in California to 241MW.

Total contracted solar generating portfolio of Dominion includes 384MW in operation or under development in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Tennessee and Utah, US.

By 2020, the company intends to develop a total of 400MW of utility solar generation in Virginia.

Dominion has a portfolio of approximately 24,600MW of generation, 12,200 miles of natural gas transmission, gathering and storage pipeline, as well as 6,455 miles of electric transmission lines.
