The projects must be between 10MW and 150MW and be situated in the US state of Virginia.

The facilities must be interlinked to Dominion Energy Virginia's transmission and/or distribution system.

The RFP targets power purchase agreements or the acquisition of projects, which the company expects to be operational in 2019 and 2020.

Dominion Energy Virginia said it will accept the notices for intent to bid by 27 October and the final proposals must be submitted by 1 December.

In September, the company issued a RFP for 10MW of new solar power projects for the Community Solar Pilot Program.

The program allows consumers to buy energy from new solar facilities located within communities throughout its service area in Virginia.

The RFP from the company have solicited bids for facilities up to 2MW in size or 2MW carve outs from larger facilities.

Earlier this month, Dominion Energy Virginia was selected to power Facebook’s new data center to be located in eastern Henrico County.

The two companies had adopted a new renewable rate option that will allow large energy users such as Facebook to meet their energy needs by adding more renewable energy sources.
