Doosan has previously signed a contract for four 350MW boilers for oil-fired thermal power plant worth $260 million in Tripoli West, Libya. The Tripoli West power plant will be built in a region about 20km from Tripoli, capital of Libya, and the Al Khalij power plant will be situated 20km west of Sirte, the administrative center of Libya. Together, the two power plants will have a total output of 2,800MW.

According to the contract, Doosan will carry out everything including boiler engineering, production, installation, and testing. Doosan plans to complete the power plants by December 2011.

Dong-Soo Suh, executive vice president of Doosan and director of Doosan Power Plant, said: Thanks to this contract, we were able to add large boilers for oil-fired thermal power plants in foreign countries to our sales portfolio. We plan to accelerate market expansion in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where more boilers for oil-fired power plant are expected to be ordered.
