A company spokesperson was quoted by PennEnergy as saying, "The $1.3 billion USD project is on schedule and on track."

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project, which would begin generating power in December 2014, is Doosan Vina.

This power project is being carried out under an EPC contract between DIHV and US-based electric power generator AES. In April 2010, AES signed the Build Operate Transfer agreement with Vietnam.

The project will have major components, including a boiler made by Vietnamese craftsmen. The Mong Duong II boilers will produce the steam that will move the turbines to generate power.

The boilers are designed and engineered in Doosan Vina’s complex in Central Vietnam’s Dung Quat Economic Zone.

Unit 1 & 2 of the Mong Duong II are schedule to complete in December 2014 and June 2015. Once operational, the two units will add a total of 1,200MW of power to Vietnam’s grid.
