The PR Series 1600 HP motor is a rugged and efficient motor that has been designed for use on oil drilling mud pumps, noted DRS Technologies.
The PR Series permanent magnet motors, which have been developed at DRS Power Technology’s facility in Massachusetts in partnership with Weatherford, will be mounted on Weatherford’s EH-1600 Triplex Mud Pump.
DRS Power Technology vice president and general manager Rich Armstrong said the successful testing and fielding of this motor design is encouraging.
"We believe permanent magnet motor technology and the direct drive mud pump, working together, can provide significant value to drilling contractors and their customers," Armstrong added.
