The drillship is equipped with cutting-edge specifications namely Sip Link System, Dynamic Positioning System and Ship Control System enabling the ship to proceed with offshore drilling operations under any circumstances.
‘Discoverer Clear Leader’ is the first drillship to incorporate Sip Link System in a bid to boost the efficiency of electricity distribution to major equipments during offshore drilling operations, sharply reducing the use of electricity on the ship in comparison to that of other drillships. Furthermore, the ship comes with an enhanced system designed to prevent power outages and generate a prompt response to electricity interruption by automatically redistributing electricity.
The drillship also offers Dynamic Positioning System which holds the drillship steady against a sudden gush of wind, powerful waves and ocean currents in offshore drilling sites of 3000 meters depth. These specifications combined with Transocean’s offshore dual activity drilling technology which allows multi-drilling to take place at once reduce both time and money spent in offshore drilling by 40%.
Meanwhile, DSME plans to use this opportunity to push forward with selling marine plants.
