The wind park in Oliver and Chandler townships will add to about 500MW of DTE Energy’s renewable energy projects already producing, or in the planning or construction stages.

The wind power plant will be located on about 16,000 acres and deploy 70 wind turbines.

DTE Energy will file for approval from the Michigan Public Service Commission later this year.

Upon receiving approval from the Commission, the company is expected to commence construction in 2013.

DTE Energy has started construction in 2012 on three previously announced wind farms with a total capacity of 110MW in Huron and Sanilac counties.

According to the company, total investment for all four wind parks farms will be about $500m.

The wind park development is part of DTE Energy’s plan to meet Michigan’s renewable energy goals.
