Ironwood, as well as the 131-MW Cimarron II windpower project in Gray County, is a 50-50 joint venture between Duke Energy, which operates the project, and SCOA.

SCOA, a subsidiary of Japanese trading and investment enterprise Sumitomo Corporation, is actively involved in the projects’ management.

Westar Energy, a Topeka-based firm, has purchased all of the zero-emission electricity and associated renewable energy credits produced from the Ironwood project under a 20-year agreement.
