The financing was secured from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mizuho Corporate Bank and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.

On March 27, Duke Energy Renewables has announced plans to sell 50% equity interest in 131MW Cimarron II Windpower Project in Gray County and the 168MW Ironwood Windpower Project in Ford County to Sumitomo.

The two companies have also have finalized their 50-50 ownership arrangement for the wind farms.

Through a 20-year agreement, energy generated and renewable energy credits (RECs) produced by Ironwood wind farm will be sold to Westar Energy; while Kansas City Power & Light will buy all of the electricity and RECs produced by Cimarron II.

Duke Energy Renewables and Sumitomo Corp. of America will complete construction of both wind farms later this year.

Sumitomo Corp. of America is the unit of Sumitomo Corp while Duke Energy Renewables is a unit of Duke Energy.
