The Laurel Hill Windpower Project in Lycoming County will include 30 Siemens turbines, each with a generating capacity of 2.3MW.
Construction of the wind farm has already been started, and the facility is expected to begin commercial operation by September 2012 and produce enough electricity to power more than 20,000 homes.
The renewable electricity generated by the project will be sold to Delaware Municipal Electric Corp under a 25-year agreement.
The power project is Duke Energy Renewables’ second wind farm in Pennsylvania, and the company already owns and operates the 70MW North Allegheny Windpower Project in Blair and Cambria counties.
