Both the units at the plant have a combined power generation capacity of 1,020MW.

The Moss Landing power plant is located approximately 90 miles south of San Francisco and near Salinas in Monterey County.

The power plant comprises of Unit 1 and Unit 2 that entered service in 2002, which are 510MW combined-cycle units, Unit 6 entered service in 1967 and Unit 7 entered service in 1968.

The 510MW combined cycle units are made of two 165MW gas turbines and one 180MW steam turbine each. One MW of power generated from the facility can serve approximately 700 homes in Northern California.
