The European Commission (EC) has said that its investigation into the proposed acquisition found that the deal would not create any horizontal overlap, as the two Russian buyers and the companies controlled by them were not involved in electricity and gas supply in Italy.
The news source has quoted an EU executive as saying that there is no cause for concern as Gazprom-sourced gas volumes only account for a partial proportion of total Italian gas imports.
