ECOtality, as project manager, will install Blink electric vehicle (EV) chargers in homes throughout EV project regions nationwide to support the launch of more than 8,300 EVs.

The Blink Level 2 residential charger has an intuitive set of features, including a seven-inch color touch-screen control panel and an easily configurable design.

As part of the installation, the company will monitor the energy usage and output of charging stations to determine a viable method for mass adoption of EVs and empower the smart grid.

The smart Blink home charger provides increased cost-savings through improved power management.

The EV project is funded by the US Department of Energy through a federal stimulus grant of $114.8m secured from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The project will also secure $230m in private investment.

ECOtality also plans to install more Blink Level 2 pedestal and Blink DC fast chargers over the next few weeks.

ECOtality is a developer of electric transportation and storage technologies.
