EDF presently holds 4.97% of the publicly traded shares of Constellation Energy, purchased on the open market over the course of the past year. EDF is expected to progressively exercise the next level of open market purchases given the opportunity presented by market conditions.
Additionally, EDF and Constellation Energy may in the future continue to discuss, expanding their current relationship, permitting EDF to increase its ownership interest and modifying the associated rights in compliance with all US regulations. No current plan or proposal exists in that regard, according to EDF.
EDF and Constellation Energy initiated their relationship with an equal-stake partnership in UniStar, a joint venture established in 2007 to develop and deploy new standardized nuclear power plants in the US.
