According to EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), the transaction will enable it to establish in the Turkish market. It reportedly fits in with the company’s strategy of expanding into high-potential markets.

Polat Enerji owns two wind farms in service with 50MW in total capacity, and an 80MW facility under construction, as well as four projects at advanced stages in their development, representing capacity in excess of 200MW. All these assets are equally owned in partnership with another Turkish company.

In addition, within the framework of a call for tenders by the Turkish energy regulator (EMRA), Polat Enerji has submitted permit applications for additional wind power projects. Adnan Polat is the chairman of Polat Enerji.

EDF Energies Nouvelles, a 50%-owned subsidiary of the EDF group, produces green electricity and engaged in the wind power and renewable energy market.
