The company said that a typical gas only customer will have seen a reduction of at least 6.9% in their bills since October 2009, with those paying by monthly direct debit seeing a 10.6% decrease. This equates to a saving of GBP82 on their annual gas bills.

EDF Energy has ensured that its customers on ‘Energy Assist’ will benefit from this gas price decrease. The company has already removed its price differentials between standard credit and prepayment for both gas and electricity customers, for which the company was commended by the National Housing Federation in 2009.

Martin Lawrence, managing director of energy sourcing and customer supply at EDF Energy, said: “In these difficult times we are pleased to be able to offer our customers further price reductions. We are committed to delivering competitive prices and our customers have already benefited from the lowest dual fuel and gas only prices among the major suppliers throughout the coldest periods in December and January when they needed it most.

“As well as offering competitive prices, EDF Energy continues to help its customers save money by providing them practical and effective ways to use their energy more efficiently and cut their energy use.”
