The exchange says that JPMorgan’s futures & options business was admitted in late April 2006 as both a general clearing member and trading participant on the derivatives market.

MAN Financial, London was admitted as General Clearing Member and trading participant on the derivatives market at the end of May and Merrill Lynch was licensed as trading participant for the derivatives market.

We see the interest by these companies as an outstanding cachet for our trading platform – in particular against the backdrop of the rigid risk management of financial institutions, says Hans-Bernd Menzel, CEO of EEX.

Thanks to our market makers the trading participants can find a very liquid and, at the same time, also very transparent market on EEX, Mr Menzel added.

The number of trading participants, as well as the open interest, confirm the confidence that the financial service providers have in EEX, the exchange believes. With a total of 146 trading participants from 19 countries and an open interest which amounts to 258TWh with a market value of E14.1 billion, EEX is the energy exchange in continental Europe boasting the highest growth today, the statement concludes.
