Located in the Atacama region, the solar park is expected to start services in the second half of 2016.

Upon completion, the plant will generate over 260 GWh of energy per year for about 122,000 homes in Chile.

The facility will reduce over 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

About $180m is being invested by EGP in the project, which is owned by Enel Green Power Chile’s subsidiary Parque Solar Carrera Pinto.

Apart from the Carrera Pinto facility, EGP has also started construction on the 79MW Pampa Norte PV plant in Chile.

Located in the municipality of Taltal, in Antofagasta region of Chile, the plant will produce over 200 GWh of energy per year for about 100,000 households in the country.

Both the plants have a long-term power purchase agreement with Empresa Nacional de Electricidad. They will deliver energy to Chile’s central region transmission network, Sistema Interconectado Central.

EGP runs the 36MW Diego de Almagro, 60MW Lalackama and 40MW Chañares solar power facilities in Chile.

The company also runs Talinay Oriente, Valle de los Vientos, Taltal and Talinay Poniente wind farms as well as Pullinque and Pilmaiquen hydropower facilities.
