The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
Tauron will use the EIB loans to expand its electricity distribution networks with the addition of about 11, 000 new connections, as well as upgrade existing equipment and roll out a smart metering pilot program.
The bank said the move will benefit residential, commercial and public authority customers, as the programme’s intends to evaluate the technology, facilitate data management and offer better information flow between customers and suppliers.
Tauron will also get the EIB support for the modernisation and refurbishment of its several hydropower plants, which will increase their efficiency and generating capacity.
EIB vice-president responsible for lending in Poland László Baranyay said: "The EIB, as the bank of the European Union, strongly promotes competitive and secure energy supply as well as energy efficiency and the increased use of renewable energy.
"We therefore particularly welcome this agreement with Tauron, as the project will ensure a secure supply to new customers through the expansion of the company’s electricity network and the roll-out of a smart metering pilot programme in line with EU requirements to support the development of smart grids."
Including the latest investment, the EIB will have made four loans available to Tauron, totaling 416m, to support investment in the Polish energy sector.
Plans include construction of a new biomass-fired power unit at the Jaworzno III power plant.
