A report by the Energy Department suggested that the company may award the contract in July 2013, according Manila Standard Today.
The report also said that the design and construction of the plant will commence by January 2014, while the expansion will be completed by the second quarter of 2016.
Egco is considering to form a joint venture with Meralco for the project, while it expects to complete the expansion by 2017.
The company owns 98% of Quezon Power Philippines, which operates the existing 460MW coal-fired power plant in Quezon.
