Brazil needs to boost its generating capacity by 50% in 10 years to 150,000 MW Brazilian Energy Minister Edison Lobao said.

“Brazil will import a sizeable amount of this energy,” Lobao said. “Eletrobras will enter in a supportive role with other partners, not as a majority partner.”

Construtora OAS Ltda. said that it completed the first stage of a $20 million feasibility study with Eletrobras for the 2,000 MW Inambari hydropower plant. Duke Energy Corporation, Israel Corporation and GDF Suez SA are some of the companies interested in Peruvian project.
