Empresa Baiana de Aguas e Saneamento (EMBASA) will install 170,000 Elster water meters at residential and commercial locations, while Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo (SABESP) will deploy 80,000 Elster water meters across its residential customer base.

EMBASA expects to complete 80% of the Elster single-jet and multi-jet water meter deployments by the end of 2011.

With approximately 1.8 million installed water meters across its service region, the new Elster meters will help update EMBASA’s infrastructure, the company said.

SABESP, the water utility in Latin America, will deploy plastic cover, 45-degree position single-jet meters, and expects to complete all installations by mid 2011.

Elster’s global water businesss executive vice president Jerry Lauzze said Elster meters improve water flow measurement for industrial, residential and commercial applications, ensuring that utilities across the globe can better manage the delivery of one of our most vital natural resources.
