The 435-mile long pipeline originates in the Enbridge Cushing Terminal in the US state of Oklahoma and terminates in Wood River.

The pipeline transports crude oil and has a nominal capacity of 231,000 barrels per day.

The precautionary assessment is being completed on the pipeline at its crossing of the Mississippi River near Wood River, Illinois, US.

The company said that the pipeline was isolated with valves on both sides of the river after an underwater survey revealed that an area of the pipeline was exposed on the bottom of the river.

Enbridge Energy Partners is the owner and operator of a diversified portfolio of crude oil and natural gas transportation systems in the US.
