The $130m project was partially funded through a capital contribution agreement with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial.

Located next to Enel Green Power North America’s existing 150MW Rocky Ridge wind farm, the Little Elk facility has the capacity to generate over 330GWh of clean electricity annually.

The electricity generated at the wind farm will be enough to power over 27,000 homes in the US. It will reduce close to 240,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

People’s Electric Cooperative of Oklahoma will buy the electricity generated at the wind farm under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

Enel Green Power CEO Francesco Venturini said: "The entry into service of Little Elk strengthens our presence in the United States, which continues to be a significant market for Enel Green Power’s development.

"We are demonstrating our ability to ensure continuous growth in the US renewables market, while rapidly progressing towards our capacity expansion targets."

Enel Green Power commissioned over 420MW of wind capacity in Oklahoma this year alone. It has six wind farms in the state that make up 40% of the company’s total capacity in North America.

Earlier this month, the company commissioned the 200MW Goodwell wind farm in the state.
