Wind

Situated in the Taltal district of the region of Antofagasta, the wind farm features 33 3MW turbines that will generate an estimated 300 GWh of energy per year.

The wind farm will serve about 170,000 households in Chile and reduce more than 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Chile’s Central Region Transmission Network (SIC) will buy the electricity generated by the wind farm under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Enel Green Power secured the public-land-use concession for the Taltal wind farm in 2012 via the first Chilean public tender.

The tender intended to encourage the expansion of the Chilean energy mix by promoting renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions and the country’s reliance on foreign energy.

Enel Green Power operates the Talinay Oriente and Valle de los Vientos wind farms, each with 90MW of installed capacity, in Chile.

The company is currently completing construction on the 61MW Talinay Poniente wind farm and three solar power plants.

Enel Green Power is also exploring several geothermal concessions with a potential installed capacity of over 100MW.
