The MoU was signed with Roma Capitale and ENEA the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development.

ENEA has proposed to develop a pilot scheme "CSP Roma – Filiera TR.E.BIO.S" a small-scale, modular, polygeneration concentrated solar power plant.

The plant will use renewable energy sources biomass and solar thermodynamics to produce 1-5 MWe of electricity with zero-CO2-emissions through trigeneration.

Biomass will initially be treated with the process steam to separate lignin which can be used to support electricity generation while cellulosic components will be subjected to a fermentation process to produce ethanol.

ENEA has developed a chain of solar energy plants in Italy based on the concept of solar thermodynamics.
