Featuring 33 3MW turbines, the wind farm is located in the Taltal district of the region of Antofagasta, and has an estimated generation capacity of 300GWh of energy per year.

Power generated from the facility will be sold to Chile’s Central Region Transmission Network (SIC) under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The wind farm will serve about 170,000 households while reducing more than 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
Enel Green Power secured the public-land-use concession for the Taltal wind farm in 2012 through the first Chilean public tender, which aims to encourage the expansion of the country’s energy mix by promoting renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on foreign energy.

Currently, Enel Green Power operates the Talinay Oriente and Valle de los Vientos wind farms, each with 90MW of installed capacity, in Chile.

Enel Green Power is also exploring several geothermal concessions with a potential installed capacity of over 100MW.
