The association’s annual meeting in Barcelona, Spain, has also elected Lars Josefsson, chairman and CEO of Swedish electricity generator Vattenfall, as president to succeed Rafael Miranda, CEO of Endesa.

The co-ordination committee of Eurelectric has also been strengthened with the appointment of Jean-Pierre Hansen, CEO of Suez’s Belgian subsidiary Electrabel, and Philippe Huet, member of the board of directors of the French utility EDF.

Eurelectric’s new leadership team has emphasized its willingness to co-operate with legislators, regulatory authorities and all other stakeholders to ensure compatibility between the development of an increasingly secure and competitive electricity market and the fight against climate change.
