The transaction finalized today confirms Enel’s strategy to achieve a major position in France, where it recently signed agreements for the supply of wind turbines with a total capacity of more than 350MW.

Enel’s expansion in the promising French market is part of its global strategy to develop renewables and new technologies, with investments totaling E7.4 billion by 2012.

Enel Erelis will develop wind farms with a total capacity of about 500MW in various regions in France by 2012. Erelis already has one plant in operation and another two plants scheduled for completion in 2008. Once completed, Erelis’s plants will supply renewable energy to 350,000 households, avoiding about one million metric tons of CO2 emissions per year.
