The AFX news agency has reported that the deal between Enel and EDF will allow the Italian company to distribute power in France from early next year, and will also enshrine Enel’s involvement in the French-led EPR nuclear reactor program.

However the report suggests that Snet will not form part of the transactions, contrary to earlier predictions. This is because of Endesa’s 65% stake in the latter company, which is frozen pending the outcome of the Gas Natural takeover. EDF owns just under 19% of Snet.
