The radiation background at the plant and in its 30-km monitoring zone is within norm.

Kalinin nuclear plant is situated in the north of Tver region: 125 km away from Tver, 330 km from Moscow, 400 km from Saint Petersburg, on the southern shore of Lake Udomlia. The total area of the plant is 287.37 hectare. The plant has three WWER-1000 reactors (1000 MW each).
