The recent hydrocarbons discoveries near the Albert Lake, in the eastern part of the country, have demonstrated the great potential of Uganda, considered to be one of the most promising oil-producing countries in Central Southern Africa.
Paolo Scaroni, who was accompanied by Claudio Descalzi, chief operating officer of the Exploration & Production division, highlighted Eni’s capabilities in terms of technology, operations and sustainable development.
The President positively welcomed Eni’s resolve to re-enter the country, and encouraged a rapid finalization of the agreements for the launch of new projects in the upstream sector as well as the realization of the necessary infrastructures.
Eni’s production in the Sub-Saharan region amounts to about 450,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
