European smart grid solutions provider Entelios said demand response creates pools of flexibility that can reduce or increase consumption based on signals from the grid.

The demand response product will allow industrial firms to deliver flexible electricity consumption to the power and balancing energy markets, Entelios said.

By using the product, companies can achieve improved grid control and additional renewable energy generated will be linked to minimize the need for further conventional reserve power plants.

The process will allow companies to benefit from CO2 emissions and avoid costs related with new capacity buildup.

Entelios founder and CEO Oliver Stahl said, "We are delighted to be partnering with E.ON, one of the leading international power industry players, to deploy our proven concept for integrating the demand side in Germany together."

Entelios offers demand response solutions through its Demand-Response-as-a-Service and Virtual-Power-System-as-a-Service platforms.

The solutions are a part of the Entelios Software Suite and the E-Box communication interface.
