The biomass project comprises of two nominal 17.8MW generating facilities located in Allendale and Dorchester Counties.

According to the company, the construction work is ongoing on both projects, which are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2013.

enXco president and CEO Tristan Grimbert said, "Utilizing wood waste to generate electricity is a proven renewable technology that complements enXco’s robust portfolio of wind, solar and biogas projects in North America."

Power utility company Santee Cooper will purchase electricity generated by the project, under 30-year power purchase agreements.

The plants use stoker boilers supplied by Factory Sales Engineering and a steam turbine generator supplied by General Electric.
