The project is expected to be operational by the end of 2012 with EC&R expected to sell 100MW of its power to America Electric’s subsidiary Indiana Michigan Power under the 20-year PPA.

Employing 112 GE 1.6MW turbines, the project is located in the Tipton and Madison counties and is expected to produce enough electricity to power 60,000 households per annum.

Commenting on the developments EC&R CEO Steve Trenholm has remarked that wind farms will also create employment while providing an economic assistance to farmers, ranchers, and rural communities in the region.

"We appreciate the support this community has given us helping harvest a new source of clean renewable energy from these corn and bean fields," added Trenholm.

The project will be the 17th operational wind farm in North America for EC&R taking its cumulative wind generation capacity in the continent to over 2,500MW.
