The offering allows consumers to store solar energy directly into E.ON’s SolarCloud without any limit. Thus, one can store solar power without the need for incurring battery cost and maintenance.
This virtual technology can be accessed not only from one’s home, but from other places as well, said the company.
For over a year now, the company has been offering a cloud solution, but so far this was only available in conjunction with E.ON Aura battery storage system. In this case, power from the solar panels would not be diverted to the cloud storage system until the aura storage tank is completely filled.
On SolarCloud, customers will be given an option to save on electricity credit balance and to supply themselves 100% solar power from their own photovoltaic system.
E.ON Board member Karsten Wildberger said: “With the E.ON SolarCloud, we enable our customers to create their own personal energy world, freely and completely independent. This is unique.
“The cloud solution also opens up new possibilities for owners of heat pumps or electric cars. This underscores the importance of electricity in areas such as mobility and heating.”
Currently, there are over 1.6 million operators of solar systems in the German market alone.
According to E.ON and based on data from the Sunroof cooperation between E.ON and Google, there are another 10 million roofs in Germany that are fit for installing photovoltaic systems.
